This is the love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer, who are returning to their summer home on Golden Pond for the forty-eighth year. They are visited by their divorced, middle-aged daughter and her fiancé, who then go off, leaving his teenage son behind for the summer. The boy quickly becomes the "grandchild" the elderly couple have longed for, and Norman also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness—and slang—in return. As the summer wanes, so does their brief idyll. Time, they know, is now against them, but the years have been good and, perhaps, another summer on Golden Pond still awaits.

Marjoun, 17-years old, dressed all in black, with dark hair and eyes, is fighting—her father is unjustly held in the county jail, a family friend is making unwanted advances, and she feels an outsider in her home of Little Rock Arkansas. Set in 2006, in the aftermath of 9/11, the Second Intifada, and Iraq War, the film explores the treatment of Arab and Muslim Americans through the eyes of 17-year old Marjoun who adopts the headscarf as an exterior statement of her decision to assert herself and save her sanity.
Join us following the movie for a talk back with actress Hannah Youssef.
