BIG SWEEP: On May 4, 2019, our Engineering staff sponsored a Wake County Big Sweep event at South Lakes Greenway.  Twenty one volunteers collected eight bags of trash and construction debris along the greenway to make help your community a healthier, more beautiful place.

The next Big Sweep event is scheduled for September 14th at Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Park. If you are interested in becoming a Zone Captain for this next event, contact Jennifer Mitchell.

NCG01 & Single Family Lot Construction Lunch & Learn: On May 16, 2019, The Engineering Department hosted a Homebuilder Lunch & Learn event on new State requirements, erosion control, and waste management on single lot construction sites. The event was sponsored by the Triangle Delegated Erosion & Sedimentation Control Programs. Over 85 homebuilders and local program representatives attended the event. 

A BIG thanks Assaggio’s Pizzeria, Milano Pizza and Anna’s Pizzeria for donating food for the event! If you haven’t been to our wonderful local Italian restaurants already, you have to check them out!


2019-Lunch and Learn

Willow Springs Elementary Stormwater Education: On May 17, 2019, Engineering staff and an Environmental Educator from the Clean Water Education Partnership (CWEP) educated over 100 Willow Spring Elementary 3rd graders on the importance of clean water using an Enviroscape, a 3D landscape model where students can put different pollutants on the landscape and see how they can make their way to local streams.
