National Day of Prayer

A community National Day of Prayer observance will be held at the Fuquay-Varina Town Hall flagpole (401 Old Honeycutt Road). All are encouraged to come and join together in this time of prayer for our nation and our community.

Big Sweep

Looking for something to do on National Star Wars  Day? If you are also concerned about the quality of local water and want to make your community a healthier, more beautiful place, then this is your chance. Through the national Big Sweep Campaign, you are invited to help clean up our streams, wetlands, ponds, and lakes. 

VOLUNTEERS WELCOME! Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.  Park along Fuquay-Varina Parkway and meet at the greenway entrance which is close by at 8:30 am. Volunteers should wear long pants and sturdy shoes or boots. Win a prize if you wear something Star Wars themed!  Please preregister by contacting jmitchell@fuquay-varina.org. Heritage Day

Learn about the history and heritage of your community!  Special presentation includes “Fuquay’s Connection to the Revolutionary Era 18th Century.”  Workshops on woodworking, textiles and toys.  Caboose dedication ceremony is at 11 am.  Tours of the Museum buildings including old post office, Ballentine School and museum.  Docent-led tours of Fuquay-Varina on a Trolley at 1, 2 and 3 pm. Free event.  Lunch available for nominal fee.

Senior Services Expo

The event provides a resource fair with over 40 providers that offer insight, expertise, and solutions for aging adults and their caregivers. Shredding truck will be on site to provide shredding services at no cost.

The six-week curriculum has been shown to improve: Self-care behaviors; Management of emotions; Self-efficacy and use of community resources (increased utilization of local services).  Course is free.
 
The Center for Volunteer Caregiving is a nonprofit organization that engages the community in providing volunteer services to improve the lives of older adults, caregivers, and adults with disabilities. En Plein Air Paint-off

Artists from across the region will share their talents and capture the beauty of Fuquay-Varina on canvas!  A map of artist locations will be available the week of the event at www.fuquay-varinadowntown.com. Tour the artists as they work on May 17th starting at 1 pm.

A spirited auction will be held Saturday, May 18th at 7 pm in the new FVAC. Artists turn their paintings in at 5:00 pm. Public viewing begins at 6:30 pm. An auction begins at 7 pm!  Be one of the very few that can say “I have an original” from the 2019 contest!

An average man with a boring life meets a woman who turns out to be a spy.  Next thing he knows, she has been murdered and a mysterious organization called “The 39 Steps” is hot on his trail in a nationwide manhunt.  This Tony Award-winning play is packed with nonstop laughs, some good old-fashioned romance, and over 150 characters played by a ridiculously talented cast of four!
