Employee Benefits Summary
Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
The Town pays 100% of the cost of medical, dental and vision insurance for full-time, regular employees. Employees may obtain coverage for a spouse or eligible dependents, payable via payroll deductions. Medical, dental and vision coverage are effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment.

Employee Assistance Plan
The Town makes available a free, confidential counseling service so that employees and their household members can obtain professional assistance with personal, legal, financial and other matters. Up to three free visits provided.
Empower 401K
The Town makes a contribution equivalent to 5% of each full-time, regular employee’s salary into a 401(K) account on their behalf. Employees may elect to contribute additional amounts as pre-tax payroll deductions.

NC Retirement System
The Town requires each employee to contribute the mandated amount determined by the state into the NC Retirement System and this amount is automatically deducted from an employee’s paycheck. The Town makes its own contribution per each eligible employee and this amount is also set by the Department of State Treasurer annually. .

Term Life Insurance AD&D
The Town provides all full-time, regular employees with a term life insurance policy equal to their salary.

Voluntary Products Available
Medical and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees can elect to make pre-tax contributions to Flexible Spending Accounts to cover the cost of medical related expenses or childcare cost.

At their expense employees can elect additional term life and/or AD&D insurance for self, spouse or dependent(s).

Voluntary Short Term Disability
This coverage pays employees on a weekly basis in the event they sustain a non-occupational injury, illness or condition that prohibits them from working for a period of time.

Voluntary Universal Life Insurance
Employees can elect a whole life insurance policy for self, spouse or dependents. These polices allow employees to “lock in” a rate and are portable.

Employees can elect a policy that pays a lump sum, predetermined dollar amount for specific types of accidents.
