Park and Recreation Month has been celebrated in the United States in July since 1985 to promote building strong, vibrant, and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation. The month-long celebration recognizes the more than 160,000 full-time parks and recreation professionals that maintain our country’s local, state, and community parks.
The Fuquay-Varina Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources department oversees:
- 20 parks, over 300 acres of land, and 12 miles of trails and greenways
- Youth and adult sports programs
- Recreation programs for all ages
- Community events, including the Follow Me to Fuquay-Varina concert series, Independence Day Celebration, Tree Lighting, and many more!
Mayor Blake Massengill proclaimed July as Park and Recreation Month in Fuquay-Varina.
