Yard Debris and Grass Clippings

The Town of Fuquay-Varina is asking citizens to contact us by telephone or e-mail when placing yard debris in front of their residences. Fuquay-Varina is growing rapidly and with the increased cost of fuel, equipment, and personnel requires that the Town schedule the pickup of this debris in order to keep from driving trucks down streets where no yard debris exists. Not picking up yard debris in the most efficient method possible could lead to property tax increases to continue this service.

Please call 552-1408 or by clicking on the following link (Yard Debris Pickup Form). All requests for pickup received by 5:00 pm on Monday will be picked up that week, please put the debris out Monday evening and it will be picked up before the end of that week. Requests received after 5:00 pm on Monday will be picked up the next week. You can call (or e-mail) and leave and message 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For those items that require debris being placed in a bag, Wake County has recently informed the Town that they will accept bags made out of paper. Using paper bags will relieve Town workers from emptying the bags, and it will emliminate you from gathering empty plastic bags that Town workers must leave behind.

Thank you, in advance, for helping your Town government deliver quality services in the most efficient manner.

Yard debris should be placed curbside away from regular trash for pick up. Please do not place yard debris in ditches or in the street. Yard debris should be placed in bags or containers not to exceed 50 pounds.

Any container including bags will be replaced in your yard.

Large limbs (not including twigs, pine straw and other small debris) can be placed curbside without being in a container. Limbs should be cut down to 5 feet in length and 3-5 inches in diameter.

Yard debris left by landscape contractors, tree surgeons or other paid technicians will not be collected.

Leaves:

Leaves will be vacuumed curbside from mid-November until mid-January. Please rake leaves to curb for collection taking care not to mix sticks, rocks or dirt in leaves. The Town will be continuously swept, but during peak collection time, collection may not occur on a weekly basis. After peak collection time, leaves should be collected in each neighborhood on a weekly basis. Do not bag any leaves during this period.

Dirt:

The Town does not pickup dirt.

Christmas Trees:

Christmas trees are collected curbside from December 26th thru January 22nd. Remove all decorations, including any nails from the stand, place at the curb for pickup. There will not be a specific day for pickup, but will be removed as soon as possible as time warrants, so please leave curbside and they will be collected. Trees can also be dropped off at Action Park, which is located off of Wake Chapel Road. Please contact the Town of Fuquay-Varina Public Works and Utilities Department at (919) 753-1027 for further information or clarification.
