Recycling procedures
Recycling will be picked up the same day as your regular garbage. The only exception is that the Wednesday garbage pickup days have a Thursday recycling pickup day.
Now you can conveniently recycle aluminum cans, steel food cans, glass food & beverage containers, newspapers and magazines, and plastics! Simply place the items in the 18 gallon bin provided. Items should be placed in your container with the newspapers and magazines on top secured with the cords provided on the bin.
What TO and what NOT to recycle:
GLASS -Accepted: All glass food and beverage containers: any color -NOT accepted: Plate glass, ceramic materials or any glass that is not a food or beverage container. **How to recycle glass: Discard metal tops and rinse all containers. Paper labels do not need to be removed.
ALUMINUM, TIN & STEEL CANS -Accepted: Any aluminum beer or soft drink containers and steel food cans. -NOT accepted: Aluminum foil or pie plates, etc. **How to recycle aluminum: Empty, rinse and crush all cans
NEWSPAPERS & MAGAZINES -Accepted: Newspapers and all inserts that come with them. Magazines with stapled bindings ONLY. -NOT accepted: Magazines with glued bindings, books, office paper, tissue or other paper products. NO PHONE BOOKS!! **How to recycle newspapers: Place the newspapers on the top of the cans & glass in the recycling container. (Please cover with plastic if raining.) Please secure papers with cords on sides of bin.
PLASTICS -Accepted: Plastic drink bottles and Milk jugs, #1 and #2. -NOT accepted: Any other plastic containers numbered #3 through #7 or that have contained antifreeze, motor oil or other hazardous waste. **How to recycle plastics: Discard lids, rinse all containers and crush.
