How do you have a voice in Board meetings?

If you wish to address the Board on a non-agenda item, the Mayor will allow you to briefly address the Board during the “Public Comments” portion of the meeting. Public Comments are scheduled at the first portion of the Board Meeting.

Who currently serves on the Fuquay-Varina Board of Commissioners?

Mayor John W. Byrne, Mayor Pro Tempore Charlie Adcock, Commissioner Cindy Sheldon, Commissioner Jim Abernethy, Commissioner William Harris and Commissioner Ed Ridpath.

How can you serve on a Board-appointed Commission/Board?

Persons interested in serving on the Planning & Zoning Board, Board of Adjustment, or any Board-created Commission, should complete an application and file it with the Town Clerk.

What about Public Hearings?

Public hearings are held by the Board to give citizens the opportunity to comment on certain current issues involving the Town. All public hearings are advertised and placed on the agenda.

Are Board meetings open to the public?

All regularly scheduled Board meetings are open to the public and media. The Board is authorized to hold closed session meetings (usually at the end of the meeting) whenever necessary to discuss matters in accordance with state law G.S.§ 143.318.11. These meetings are not open to the public or media.

What is the procedure for presenting a request to the Board?

Anyone wishing to include a request or information on the regular meeting agenda should contact the Town Clerk at (919) 552-1403, and provide written material at least ten days before the meeting date.

How do you find out what's coming up on the agenda?

We currently post the agenda online for your convenience. Printed copies are also available outside the Town Hall Board room at the Town Hall, 401 Old Honeycutt Road.

When are meetings held?

Board meetings are regularly scheduled for the first Monday and the third Tuesday after the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
