Senior Adults Programs

Potluck Lunch (ages 55 & up)

Join us for lunch and bring a dish to share. Registration is free, may be made by phone or in person, and is required at least 2 days prior to lunch date. Lunch is being held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Be sure to check our brochure for themes that are set for each lunch.

Potluck Dinner (ages 55 & up)

Dinners are held the second to last Friday of each month from 5:30 until 7:30pm. Registration is free and required at least one week prior to the dinner.

Tai Chi (ages 18 & up)

Tai Chi involves slow, non-impact movements that focus on muscle relaxation and skeletal alignment. Increases energy and improves the immune system. Sessions are 4 weeks and cost $24. Morning sessions are held on Mondays from 10am to 11am, and evening classes are on Mondays 6:00 to 7:00pm.

  • Session I: May 5 - June 2 (no class May 26)
  • Session II: June 16 - July 7
  • Session III: July 21 - August 11

Senior Book Discussion (ages 55 & up)

Share your literary viewpoint and make new friends! Meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Registration is free and may be made by phone or in person. Meetings are on Wednesdays from 10:45am to 12:15pm.

Senior Game Day (ages 55 & up)

Learn to play this fun and challenging card or board games and make new friends! Registration is free, may be made by phone or in person, and is required at least two days prior to each game day. Meets every 2nd Wednesday of the month, 2:00 to 4:00pm.

Game Night (ages 55 & up)

Join us every second to last Friday of the month at 7:00pm for a night of cards. Registration is free.

Senior Tennis Doubles Free Play (ages 55 & up)

Join us for a great way to exercise and socialize. You do not need a partner to sign up for this tennis doubles group but you do need to know how to play the game! Singles, couples or any combination of players are welcome. Brush up on your tennis skills, practice for your league, or make new friends with others interested in playing tennis for the fun of it. Registration is FREE and may be made by phone or in person. You may join at any time. Games are played Monday - Friday, 8am to 11am. All participants are required to register by phone or in person and sign a liability waiver. Location: Honeycutt Road Park Tennis Courts.

Carolina Pottery & Outlets (ages 55 & up)

Senior trip to the Carolina Premium Outlets in Smithfield, NC. Participants will be responsible for lunch. The fee is $8 and includes a light snack at the Community Center and transportation. Registration is one week prior to the trip. Thursday, May 29th, 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Bowling (ages 55 & up)

Take a trip to a local bowling alley with your buddies. The fee is $12 and includes a light snack at the Community Center, bowling fees and transportation. Registration is one week prior to the trip. Thursday, June 26th, 10:00am - 4:00pm.

American Music Jubilee Variety Show (ages 55 & up)

Join us as we take a trip to the Rudy Theatre in Selma, NC. The Music Variety Show is a two hour extravaganza that will have you singing along with your favorite songs and laughing out loud. Please eat lunch before arrival.The fee is $20 and includes transportation and admission.Registration is one week prior to the trip. Thursday, July 24th, 12:00pm - 5:00pm.

Lunch & A Movie (ages 55 & up)

Participants can see the movie of their choice. The fee is $12 and includes a light snack at the Community Center, transportation and admission. Registration is one week prior to the trip. Thursday, August 28 , 10:00am - 5:00pm.

AARP Driver Safety Course (ages 55 & up)

A two-day refresher course especially designed for drivers aged 50+. Some insurance companies offer premium discounts to graduates. No tests required. Course materials must be purchased from instructor ($10 payable by check to AARP on the first day of class). Registration is free and must be completed one week prior to class. Tuesday, June 3 & Wednesday, June 4, 9:00am - 2:30pm.

Avoiding the Natural Disasters of Retirement (ages 55 & up)

Discover powerful strategies for a financially secure reitrement. Nothing is sold at this workshop. Registration is free and must be completed one week prior to class. Tuesday, May 13, 2:00pm - 3:00pm.

Open Gym (ages 55 & up)

Shoot some hoops, take a walk, or go for a jog in our air conditioned gymnasium. Registration is free. Check the open gym schedule for dates and times.
