Town of Fuquay-Varina Benefits Summary
*Healthcare (Blue Cross Blue Shield): The Town provides the employee with medical, vision, and prescription coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina at no cost to the employee. The employee may purchase child, spouse, or family coverage.
*Dental (Delta Dental): The Town provides the employee with dental coverage through Delta Dental at no cost to the employee. The employee may purchase child, spouse, or family coverage.
*Term Life Insurance (The Standard): The Town provides all full-time employees with 1x salary term life insurance through the Standard Insurance Company. Employees may elect additional term life coverage for themselves and family at group rates.
*Whole Life Insurance (Unum Provident): Employees may elect to purchase whole life insurance for themselves and family at group rates
*Accident Insurance (Unum Provident): Employees may elect to purchase accident insurance for themselves and family at group rates.
*Short Term Disability (Companion Life Insurance): Employees may elect to purchase short term disability for absences due to illnesses and injuries.
*Flexible Spending Accounts (P & A Group) Employees may elect to defer pre-tax dollars into a Medical Reimbursement Account to pay eligible medical expenses and/or a Dependent Care Account to pay eligible dependent care expenses.
*NC 401(k) (Prudential): The Town contributes 5% of the employee's salary into the employee's 401(k) plan. The employee may elect to contribute more.
*NC Retirement System (NC Department of State Treasurer): The Town participates in the NC Local Governmental Employees' Retirement System. The employee contributes a certain set amount into their own retirement account.
* Probationary Period: All new hire employees shall serve a 6 month probationary period (12 month for sworn law enforcement and department heads).
* Longevity Pay: Full-time Town employees are compensated for years of service by payment of a longevity supplement issued on the employee's anniversary date.
* Vacation: Town employees earn vacation leave each year of employment. The amount is based on years of service.
*Sick Leave: Town Employee's accrue 8 hours of sick leave per month of employment. The Town will accept sick leave from other state or local governmental institutions.
*Holidays: The Town observes 11 or 12 holidays per year with full pay.
*Workers' Compensation: All employees of the Town are covered by the NC Workers' Compensation Act and are required to report all injuries arising out of and in the course of employment to their immediate supervisors.
*Tuition Assistance: Full-time employees who have completed the probationary period may apply for tuition assitance for job-related courses.
