Child Passenger Safety Seat Information
The Town of Fuquay-Varina Fire Department is dedicated to ensuring the safety of a parent's most precious commodity; their children. All of our career staff and several volunteers have been trained in the proper installation of child safety seats.
Our department schedules periodic checkpoints in the area and offers the safe service at all three of our fire stations. We have established set hours that our firefighters will be happy to check any child safety seat and no appointments are necessary. They are Sunday thru Saturday, 8am-12pm and 2pm-8pm.
Some Staggering Facts:
- An estimated 85% of children who are placed in child safety seats and booster seats are improperly restrained.
- Nationally, over 1,700 children ages 14 and under are killed each year and an estimated 270,000 are injured as passengers in motor vehicles.
- The correct use of child safety seats is extremely effective, reducing the risk of death by 71%, hospitalizations by 69%, and minor injuries by 50%.
