Overview of Youth Sports Program
On August 6, 2012, the Fuquay-Varina Town Board voted in favor of a recommendation to start a recreational youth sports program administered by the Parks & Recreation Department. The Town views youth sports as an extension of an already successful recreation program which currently offers a full range of recreational programming.
The inaugural season of the Youth Sports program began in fall 2012 with over 300 participants registered for basketball resulting in 7 divisions and 33 teams and a Varsity and Junior Varsity Dance Troupe.
In early January 2013, the Town will begin registration for the spring sports program which includes t-ball, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer and flag football. All sports will be played at town-owned fields and facilities. See individual sports for specific information.
Program Vision
Our vision of a town youth sports program is one that teaches sportsmanship, fair-play, new skills and builds character through competition in a safe and fun environment. We will focus on the whole child through positive coaching, teamwork, sportsmanship, skill development, self-esteem, personal development, and socialization skills. Our goal is to provide recreational activities to enhance and build positive recreational experiences and healthy lifelong habits.
