The Town of Fuquay-Varina began developing its parks and recreation system more than thirty years ago with the acquisition of Falcon Park. Since that time, both the town and the park system have grown and changed dramatically. Presently, the Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for eighteen park sites with more than 200 acres of land that contain playgrounds, picnic shelters, and athletic fields. In 2012, the department began offering youth sports programming including t-ball, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, dance, flag football, soccer, softball, tackle football, and volleyball. The program has proven extremely successful and has been well-received by the community. With 30 various-sized soccer fields, 7 multi-purpose fields, 11 baseball fields, Council Gym and the Community Center, the Parks & Recreation Department is well-equipped to handle a first-rate youth sports program. Parks and Recreation is also responsible for organizing community events such as Celebrate Fuquay-Varina, the Independence Day Celebration, Annual Egg Hunt, and several Christmas Events.
We strive to provide residents and visitors with beautifully maintained and accessible open space, athletic facilities and playgrounds as well as plan and execute community events to promote the Town as a great place to live, visit and do business.
