Fire Department Overview

The Town of Fuquay-Varina Fire Department is a municipal combination career/volunteer department located in Southern Wake County, approx 15 miles from Raleigh. We provide fire protection to 40,000 residents in a 62 square mile jurisdiction. Our district ranges from urban to rural settings, mostly residential with numerous commercial and industrial structures. We operate 5 engines, 1 ladder truck, 2 rescue trucks, 4 tankers, 3 First Responder squads and 1 brush truck out of three stations. Our department is led by Chief Tony Mauldin, has 40 career staff, 8 part-time firefighters and 20 volunteers for a total of 68 personnel.

The Town's Fire Department provides traditional fire protection, rescue/extrication and water rescue to the Town of Fuquay-Varina and the Furina Fire District. We also respond to medical calls with Wake County EMS as first responder-defib.

The Fuquay-Varina Fire District has undergone tremendous growth in recent years. The Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area is considered one of the fastest growing areas in the United States. As the area continues to grow we will expand our capabilities to provide the highest level of service possible. To keep this level of service, we are continuously seeking volunteers.
