On June 7, 2014 at 2:00pm on Vance Street a public auction will be held where landscape enthusiasts will have a chance to take home one of these treasures.

Each artist must submit an online application and send three images of their original work to director@fuquay-varinadowntown, no later than MARCH 14, 2014. Once accepted, artists will be notified of the details of the contest and will be required to sign a waiver which allows Fuquay-Varina Downtown to use images of their painting for future public art and marketing pieces.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny hops into town on Saturday, April 12 bringing 12,000 candy and toy filled eggs to South Park in Fuquay-Varina for the Town’s annual Easter Egg Hunt. Grab a basket or bag and plan to bring the kids for what has become a wonderful Fuquay-Varina tradition. Bring a camera. It’s all free.
Children ages 10 and under are invited to participate. The Fuquay-Varina Easter Egg Hunt features three hunt areas, each for a different age group. Ages 4 and under will be at the picnic shelter; Ages 5-7 and ages 8-10 will be on the lower baseball fields. Onsite signage will help guide parents to the appropriate area.

This is a free, family event held following the Town of Fuquay-Varina’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Candy Hop is much like the traditional Trick or Treat in Downtown. The merchants on and around historic Main and Broad Streets supply candy and goodies while parents take children shop to shop with baskets to collect the treats.

The Professional Women’s Leadership Association (PWLA) is offering business scholarships to 2 graduating female students of Fuquay-Varina High School. 2Patriotic Scholarships will be awarded to graduating females who currently have a mother or father who are serving on active duty or have been honorably discharged as a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. Applicants must be residents of Fuquay-Varina who have been accepted to a 2-year or a 4-year accredited institution of higher learning. The 2year is $500.00 and the 4 year is $1000.00.
Applications for the PWLA Scholarships with complete details and requirements are now available at
FVHS Student Services and the Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce. Completed applications must be turned in no later than April 1.
Celebration of the Arts - Call for Artists
The 11th Annual Celebration of the Arts Festival is currently accepting artist applications for booth space. The festival will be held on Saturday, June 7 from 10 am – 4 pm in downtown Fuquay-Varina. The Celebration of the Arts has grown from a street-type art fair to a large art festival with more than 90 art vendors and 9,000 visitors. It is part of a town-wide festival called Celebrate Fuquay-Varina. Artists and Crafters throughout North Carolina and the southeast will be represented at the festival.
The Celebration of the Arts is open to all artists and fine crafts people producing original work.
The Celebration of the Arts festival is a juried show. To be considered for inclusion, artists must complete an application, and submit 3 images of their work. Booth fees are $85 or $100 (after April 11th) and the application deadline is April 11, 2014. Artists must supply their own 10x10 tent and display equipment. Operation Coming Home
Are you interested in helping with the next Operation Coming Home project? This home is being built for a disabled veteran and his family to live right here in Fuquay-Varina! The house will be handed over in April, so there is lots of work to be done! Major sponsors of the project include the Raleigh-Wake County Home Builders Association, Preston Development Company, M/I Homes, United States Veterans Corp., and South Lakes. The Town of Fuquay-Varina has waived all permit fees.
