Fuquay Business District
Join the Chamber in the downtown Fuquay Business District for a full day of activities. Family-oriented activities will be scheduled from 12-5pm, including a train, climbing wall, bounce houses, carnival games, art activities, and dance/martial arts demonstrations. 
The Arts & Crafts portion of the festival will also run from 12-5pm.  Enjoy local craft beers, North Carolina wines and a food truck rodeo during the event.  
At 5pm, a corn hole tournament will begin and run until 7pm. A Corporate Battle of the Bands will begin at 4:00 and run until 6:30pm. At 7:00 pm, the event will host a concert by a band that has yet to be named (announcement soon!) until 9pm.

Few bands are considered music legends! The Embers have left their mark on listeners for decades.  Make sure you're in Fuquay-Varina to listen to the legendary Embers featuring Craig Woolard at the final fall Follow Me 2 Fuquay-Varina concert series.  This is a free family fun event.  No coolers are allowed but local craft beer, wine and food will be available for purchase. Sorry, no pets of any type are allowed in the event area.

Celebrate National Fire Prevention Month

Visit Station #1 and learn about fire prevention and safety planning and have FUN!  Sparky the Fire Dog and Pluggie the Fire Hydrant will visit.  See fire prevention and equipment displays and witness great demonstrations!  Hand-on experience for young ones!  This is a Fuquay-Varina favorite!

Saturday, October 17, Family Fright:  5-6 pm; Full Fright: 7-9 pm
There’s nothing like a good fright and apparently lots of people agree!  Last year, PRCRs hosted a Haunted Trail and more than 1,300 people attended, so we’re doing it again! FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE, PARK AT THE F-V COMMUNITY CENTER AND RIDE THE SHUTTLE. 
Family Fright, appropriate for families with younger children, will be from 5-6 pm.   Full Fright, which will be scarier, will take place from 7-9 pm. Everyone is invited to attend.  The Haunted Trail is free, but please note there will be scary stuff, so enter at your own risk! This is an outdoor activity with low lighting so remember to wear appropriate shoes, preferably tennis shoes and dress for the weather.

The Downtown Chili Cook-Off started in 2003 and continues to grow in popularity both with contestants and tasters.   More than 20 individuals, businesses, and non-profit groups show off their cooking skills and compete to see who has the best tasting chili in Fuquay-Varina.   Attendees can purchase a "tasting ticket" and then they vote to determine the People’s Choice winner. A panel of Judges determines 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners through a blind-tasting.

Registration for Basketball & Dance Troupe at Parks & Recreation, extended thru October 16th!

Distribution of Potassium Iodide

North West Harnett Fire Department, 6015 Christian Light Rd., Fuquay-Varina 
Harnett County Health Department Public Health Officials will distribute potassium iodide (KI) tablets to Harnett County residents located within the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ) of the Harris Nuclear Power Plant on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00pm. There is not a charge for the tablets. Potassium iodide (KI) is a protective measure for the general public to supplement evacuation and sheltering in the event of a severe nuclear power plant (NPP) accident. Residents who live within 10 miles of the nuclear plant can obtain KI for their families at this distribution site or by contacting the Health Department regarding other distribution options. Public Health Officials on site will also be providing flu shots during the KI distribution. For more information please call the Harnett County Health Department at 910-893-7550.

Trail Life USA is a Christian adventure, character, and leadership program for young men ages K-12.
Troop NC-1421 meets at 7PM Thursday nights at Revel’s Tractor Conference Center located at 2225 N Main St, Fuquay Varina, NC 27526.
