UPCOMING EVENTS

May 27-30, times vary
Fleming Loop Park, Fuquay-Varina, NC
The WRAL Freedom Balloon Fest, scheduled over Memorial Day, will be the largest event to ever hit Fuquay-Varina.  An estimated 60,000-80,000 people will attend the four-day event that will feature more than 30 balloon pilots from around the nation.  Hot air balloons will only fly in the morning and late afternoon/early evenings but there will be plenty to see and do.  The festival will feature competitive balloon flights, tethered balloon rides, evening glows and a myriad of activities planned from sunrise to sundown.   Expect a great weekend with lots of activity, entertainment and food.

The bulk of the activity will be at Fleming Loop Park just off Hwy. 42 west of town. Admission to the event is free but there will be no public parking at the event site.  Organizers have arranged for 30 acres of offsite parking and festival goers will need to take a shuttle to the event.  Expect a nominal fee associated with parking and the shuttle. The WRAL Balloon Fest is dedicated to veterans and military families and funds raised will support local military veterans’ organizations.

For information on parking, schedules, entertainment, visit www.wralfreedomballoonfest.com or download the Balloon Fest mobile app.
