Falcon Park Re-opening

Renovations are complete and Falcon Park will re-open to the public after a year-long renovation. Come out and enjoy the new park amenities and take in a scrimmage baseball game.  Hotdogs and hamburgers to the 1st 200 folks.

The Fuquay-Varina Arts Council continues its Art After Dark season in Downtown Fuquay, Centennial Square, 102 N. Main Street.  Those passionate about the arts in their community will join together to provide a variety of creative activities to showcase local talent.  Events will include an artists' and crafters' market, kids’ creative activities, an Art Walk, and music. Admission is free.

Take in the 2nd FM2FV concert this fall featuring country singer Emily Minor got her start on American Idol.  Since then, she’s moved to Nashville and performed all over the country and in  July, she opened for Scotty McCreary.  Her vocals have been likened to the award winning talents of Miranda Lambert and Jennifer Nettles. Emily is an energetic sunburst full of big surprises poised to make an everlasting impression. Come see this NC native in Fuquay-Varina at the FM2FV concert!

About the Concert Series:  This is a free family fun event.  No coolers are allowed but local craft beer, wine and food will be available for purchase,     Sorry, no pets of any type are allowed in the event area.

Lawrence Street Park located at 210 Lawrence Street will be renamed William M. Freeman Park. After the renaming ceremony, the Fuquay-Varina Police will host the first Cops in the Park event where neighbors can get to know each other and meet police officers while everyone enjoys an evening in the community.   
 
Free food, safety and equipment displays, useful crime prevention information, a bouncy house, and prizes to round out an enjoyable evening to strengthen our neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

Haunted Trail

Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Education Park, 301 Wagstaff Road
There’s nothing like a good fright and apparently lots of people agree!  Last year, the Parks & Recreation Department hosted the Haunted Trail and more than 1000 people attended, so we’re doing it again!  This year’s Haunted Trail will be on Saturday, October 17 at Carroll Howard Johnson Environmental Education Park (CHEEP) located at 301 Wagstaff Road.
 
Family Fright, appropriate for families with younger children, will be from 5-6 pm.   Full Fright, which will be scarier, will take place from 7-9 pm. Everyone is invited to attend.  The Haunted Trail is free, but please note there will be scary stuff, so enter at your own risk!  This is an outdoor activity with low lighting so remember to wear appropriate shoes, preferably tennis shoes and dress for the weather.  www.fvparks.org

Registration for Basketball & Dance Troupe at Parks & Recreation, Sept. 9-Oct. 3
Register for youth basketball and dance troupe from September 14-October 3.  Basketball (ages 4-16), Dance (ages 7-13) and Skills & Drills (ages 4-5).  The cost is $40/resident and $65/non-resident.  Registration is easy.  Go online at www.fvparks.org or visit the Community Center by October 3.  Coaches are always needed!  Call 919-552-1430 for more information.
