Town Clerk

By state law each city, town and county in North Carolina must have a clerk for its governing board. The Town Clerk attends all meetings of the Town Board of Commissioners and its committees. The Clerk records and maintains record of official actions that are kept permanently for the use of future generations.

Other functions include preparing proclamations, resolutions and notices of public hearings as required by law. The Clerk assists in preparation of Board agendas and notifies persons scheduled to appear before the Town Board. The Clerk is responsible for codification of Town Ordinances.
