Lynwood “Dane” Carroll began his firefighting career as a Volunteer with the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department in October of 2013 after completing his bachelor’s degree at Greensboro College. He immediately fell in love with the fire service and decided to pursue a full-time job as a career fireman. In January of 2014, Dane was accepted into the Wake County Fire Academy where he completed his certifications to begin a career in the job he loves.
Dane’s dream to become a career Firefighter became a reality on September 22, 2014 when he was hired as a full-time Firefighter with the Fuquay-Varina Fire Department. Since then he has completed countless hours of continuing education and training alongside his brothers in the fire service to make sure he is able to give 100% every day on the job. Dane is currently a Firefighter II on B-shift.
Dane and his wife, Carissa, were married on December 1, 2018. In his spare time, Dane likes to spend time with his beautiful new wife and their dog, Levi. They enjoy trips to the beach, eating out at good restaurants, fixing up their new home, lazy nights on the sofa, and hunting and fishing on the family farm.
When asked what he likes most about his job, Dane replied, “For me, one of the best parts of my job is getting to show the kids in the community the cool part of being a firefighter. It is an awesome feeling knowing they consider you a superhero and there is nothing better than teaching our youth fire safety and seeing their faces light up when they can be up close and touch a real firetruck”.
