The Fleming Loop Park project has gotten underway this summer. Upgraded amenities will include the addition of seven new multi-purpose fields, a concession stand, restroom facilities, field lighting, playground equipment, picnic shelters, a walking trail, a paved parking area and road improvements along Fleming Loop Road. Construction is expected to take 8-10 months and cost approximately $5 million. PARTF and Wake County Major Facilities grants will fund $1 million of the cost. In June 2017, the Fleming Loop Park project was delayed due to construction bids that pushed the cost of the initial project budget. Fleming Loop Park improvements are part of the Master Facility Plan, a five-year comprehensive park plan, adopted by the Town Board in 2014. Over the past four years, numerous projects identified in the Master Facility Plan have been completed or are in progress, including the following:-Splash Pad-Fuquay-Varina Arts Center (summer 2018)-Renovations/improvements at Falcon Park, Library Park and Fuquay Mineral Spring Park-Playground resurfacing at Old Honeycutt Road Park-Playgrounds replaced and upgraded at South Park and Action Park-Park Depot Greenway design-Additional parking lot at South Park-Outdoor basketball court at South Park (summer 2018)-New dugouts at Ballentine School ParkTown staff is currently updating the Master Facility Plan and will present it to the Town Board at a public meeting later this year.
